2016 Barry Wood Memorial Outstanding Achievement Award
Archery: Jerrid Willigar - Placed 3rd at a Provincial Shoot for his age category. Ashley Hamel - Acquired the Provincial Champion title in her age category as well as for the 3D Shoot category. Austin Ellis - Provincial Champion for his age category at an Indoor Shoot, a Provincial Champion in a 3D Shoot as well as an Overall Shooter on the Provincial Level Indoor Target.
Senior Girls Softball - The 2015-2016 Senior Girls Softball team attended Provincials in Antigonish in June and finished 3rd in the Province. Members of the team are: Dakota Ferdinand, MacKenzie Ferdinand, Kylee Smith, Danielle McLellan, Meana Oliveira, Haley Harrison, Ella Harrison, Rhianna Odlin, Erin Trottier, Casey Hamel, Ashley Hamel, Sarah Merriam, Jasmine Walton, Bryanna Jeffers and Victoria Trottier. Coaches - Charlene Smith and Bliss Walton
Senior Boys Softball - The 2015-2016 Senior Boys Softball team hosted Provincials in June and finished 3rd in the Province. Members of the team are: Grayson McCrindle, Noah Perrin, Nicolas Leopold, Jerrid Willigar, Corey Merriam, Jackson Colborne, Alex Goodwin, Matthew Morris, Maxwell Hoar, Cole Dowe, Jacob Willigar and Tyler Millar-Hatfield. Head coaches - Samantha McCrindle and Matthew Smith. Assistant coaches - Kolby Benjamin, Seth Lake, Jerry Boutilier, Logan Legere and Riley McCulley.

David Young, 2015 Representative Volunteer
On April 7th, 2015 at the 41st Provincial Volunteer Awards Ceremony and Luncheon, David Young was presented with the 2015 Representative Volunteer Award for the Town of Parrsboro. David started volunteering six years ago when the Fire Department was in need of help. Now, as a firefighter with the Parrsboro Volunteer Fire Department, David is the Medical First Responder Chairperson and Rescue Truck Driver. He is also Vice President of the Friends of Firefighters. With the Friends, David chairs the bingo/canteen and is the souschef for catering events. He cooks for large events, such as field days, Old Fashioned Saturday Night Barbeques, weddings and funerals. Your volunteer work is greatly appreciated; thank you, David.
Eldon George, 2014 Tourism Champion Award

Debbie Beal, 2014 Representative Volunteer
On March 18th, 2014 Mayor Smith presented Debbie Beal with the Representative Volunteer of the Year Award. Debbie is the "Community Caretaker". Debbie is devoted to her church teaching weekly Sunday School and Vacation Bible School in the summer. She puts in many hours visiting patients at South Cumberland Community Care Centre and also ferries individuals to and from doctor appointments. It is with great respect and honour that we recognize Debbie for her contributions over the years to our town.
Eldon George, Order of Nova Scotia
On November 27th, 2013, Parrsboro resident, Eldon George (seated in first row to far right) was awarded the prestigious Order of Nova Scotia by the Lieutenant Governor. Eldon was recognized for devoting over 70 years to rock hounding, fossil hunting and community leadership. His expertise is recognized internationally, promoting Nova Scotia as a destination rich in geological history. His work has helped to uncover the history of our land and bring world attention to the province. Congratulations Eldon!
Rob Bentley, Citizen of the Year
On November 16th, 2013 Parrsboro & District Board of Trade president David Beattie presented Rob Bentley (second from left) with its Citizen of the Year Award at a banquet in his honour. Rob was recognized for being a generous volunteer and sharing his musical talents with the community. Congratulations Rob!

On June 25th, 2013 the Parrsboro Boys Softball Team was presented with the Barry Wood Memorial Outstanding Achievement Award for placing 1st at the NSSAF Division 3/4 Provincial Championships. Congratulations to the team, coaches and parents for a job well done!
Ken Snowdon, Queen's Diamond Jubilee Medal
Mayor Lois Smith presented Ken Snowdon with the Queen's Diamond Jubliee Medal at the regular meeting of Council held on April 23rd, 2013. Ken was unable to attend the earlier presentation of medals in January. Congratulations Ken!

On January 15th, 2013, Mayor Lois Smith presented the Queen's Diamond Jubilee Medal to nine residents of Parrsboro & area for their outstanding service and achievements. From left: Con Byers, Sarah Colpitts, Eldon George, Dora Fuller, Kerwin Davison, Brady Dunham, Lyle Yorke, Bill Wheaton, Ed Gilbert, Harriet McCready and Bill Connors. Ken Snowdon was also a recipient but was unable to attend. Harriet and Eldon had previously received their medals and were invited to take part in the presentations. Parrsboro resident Keith Odlin had also previously been presented with his medal but was unable to attend. Congratulations to all recipients!
