On March 20th, 2012, at Coffee with the Mayor, Ed Gilbert was honoured as the Town's Volunteer Representative of the Year. Ed was recognized for his exemplary volunteer work with many area organizations including the Parrsborough Shore Historical Society, the Parrsboro Branch of the Royal Canadian Legion and Trinity United Church. Congratulations Ed for a job well done!
Biography derived from nomination letters for Ed:
Ed Gilbert: Gentleman, Tradesman, Seaman, Familyman, Churchman, Writer and Historian. Ed is one of the stalwarts of our Historical Society and is well recognized and appreciated in the community for his historical knowledge and storytelling abilities. He has devoted dozens of volunteer hours this past year working on the restoration of the Ottawa House Museum. Ed has volunteered at the Gem and Mineral Show and attends many of the events the Fundy Geological Museum sponsors. As a board member, he has taken a special interest in learning the geology of the area to offer the most knowledgeable support. He is a faithful veteran at our Remembrance Day Parade in sleet, snow and rain! Another place Ed devotes countless hours is Trinity United Church. As a member of the Property Committee, Ed volunteers his talents as a carpenter maintaining the exterior and interior of the church. Ed likes to remain in the background but he is always willing to lend a helping hand. As a volunteer, he is well respected, works hard and sticks with the job until it is completed. Ed is a shining example of what we consider a "Great Citizen".
Be a Volunteer!
The Mayor, Town Council and citizens of Parrsboro recognize the volunteer efforts of all the organizations and their members in the Parrsboro area for their contribution to our town.
